Final Major Project - V&A

I decided to take a trip to the Victoria and Albert museum to see if I could find any inspiration for my final major project.
I started by looking in the South East Asia section of the museums where i found the Indian patterns.
some of the piece that i found inspired my hugely, I really like the use of colour and natural form through the designs.
I especially like the image of the piece below, I find it very effective how there are natural forms and very natural colours used as well as very geometrical shapes as a main outline.

In these two pieces above I find the colour use amazing I think the colours are very effective but yet they are so very different. One used dull and dim colours whereas the other pieces use bright and vivid colours.

I then decided to go into the Japanese section were I found the very traditional Japanese work with very beautiful detailed pieces which included pieces of clothing that an emperor would wear which was hand-embroidered using silk to pieces of furniture beautifully hand painted.
I find the Japanese traditional style of work very interesting, I really like the style of drawing and the colours used they are mostly very cool and calm colours also the same type of things drawn such as dragons, waves, clouds, birds and flowers.

Whistle walking around the V&A I found this grand piano which was made between 1883-1885 which was stained oak that had been decorated with gold and silver gesso, I found this piece was really inspirational for the natural form and the floral pattern used to decorate it.
This was by far one of my favourite pieces that I found in the V&A.

I also had a look in the fashion part of the museum to get some inspiration on repeat patterns rather than cultural patterns even though some of these are kind of cultural I mostly went to look at the patterns themselves used in fashion and the colour used and the materials used.

The two dresses and fans in the images below were made between 1820-1991 all of which were made in Paris/ France. They all have repeat patterns that include flowers and natural forms.

These two garments in the images below were made between 1846-1850 and made in Great Britain, these two garments also include natural forms and floral patterns, the patterns on these two garments are repeat patterns more so than the other two garments from Paris/France.

By going to the V&A I found some really good inspirational ideas which I feel will help me come up with some design ideas for my final piece.
I think it would have been better if I had spent more time in the V&A and looked at some of the other exhibits they have there and studied the pieces that I did look at properly.
